Portland Car Dealer: Nissan Rogue First to Feature Innovative Around View® Monitor
In thinking about our favorite things to do in a new Nissan, parallel parking doesn’t exactly crack the top ten. This is especially true for those of us living in urban areas – we’re constantly faced with having to squeeze our vehicles into tight spaces. Nissan is implementing an innovative and exciting new solution to this dilemma with its Around View Monitor, which is making its debut in the crossover category in the Nissan Rogue.
The Around View Monitor is armed with four separate cameras that act like four helpful spotters pointing you in the right direction as you back up. Located on the front, rear, and underneath both side mirrors, the wide-angled cameras create a virtual overhead view of your vehicle and its surroundings. Simply shift into reverse and the split screen provides both a rear and overhead view. Colored lines provide a snapshot of the distance between your Rogue and the vehicles you are positioning between, and when you shift into drive, it automatically displays the front view. Furthermore, you have complete control over which camera angle is being displayed in case you want to see how close you are to the curb or another object on the rear or opposite side of the vehicle.
This latest technology advancement is one of the most convenient features in the top-rated Rogue, which continues to receive positive reviews from the industry’s most respected auto publications. Best known for its versatility, efficiency, and fun driving experience when compared to its closest competitors, the Rogue is armed with the same 2.5-liter engine present in the Altima for increased fuel efficiency. Check out this video review of the 2011 Nissan Rogue from Consumer Reports.
More driver’s license tests have probably been failed due to the applicant’s inability to parallel park than any other task. It’s anxiety provoking at best, and risks damage to a vehicle and surrounding property at its worst. Around View® Monitor now comes to Rogue drivers’ rescue. - Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.

Portland Car Dealer: Nissan Juke-R Turns Heads of Major Auto Publications
Have you ever thought about what would happen if Nissan combined two seemingly different models into an all-new supercharged version of the two? Well, Nissan engineers are doing just that with the Nissan JUKE and Nissan GT-R to create the innovative new Nissan JUKE-R.
While it might seem like an odd combination, the finished product is nothing short of spectacular. Car and Driver reports that the innovative vehicle is loaded with GT-R wheels, shiny graphite paint, wide fender flares, and a rear wing. All of this is complete with an extra-low & sporty JUKE-like body.
So what’s under the hood of the JUKE-R? Engineers chose the GT-R’s turbo-charged 480hp V6 engine. That’s right, we’re essentially witnessing a Nissan Juke that achieves 480hp – something no car enthusiast could have ever predicted. The team had to go to great lengths just to be able to fit the massive engine into the Juke’s frame, which normally holds the standard 1.6-liter engine.
We’re excited to work for a company that is constantly testing new innovative ideas – both for fun and for production vehicle research. Stay tuned right here on the Beaverton Nissan blog and our Facebook page for more news on all the latest Nissan models!

Portland Car Dealer: Nissan Sees Significant Sales Increase in September
Capitalizing on a combination of innovative new vehicles and continued improvements to best-selling models, Nissan North America saw a 25.3% increase in
September sales over last year. Setting an all-time September record with total vehicle sales of 92,964, Nissan is providing tremendous value in a very competitive auto industry that has remained challenging for the last several years.
Several models in Nissan’s core lineup over the last decade – including Altima, Sentra, Maxima, and Versa – helped contribute to success with a 32.3% combined increase over last year. Minor upgrades were made to each model for 2011, most notably in the exterior design and interior features. Perhaps the most impressive was the debut of the Versa sedan, which saw a 68% increase over last year and is one of the most affordable new vehicles in the world starting at less than $11,000.
Another bright spot was a very strong showing for the all-electric 2011 Nissan LEAF, which is still a very new concept for Nissan customers but saw 1,031 units sold during the month. The LEAF was also a deciding factor in the city of Portland’s recent decision to add an entire block-long stretch of EV charging stations downtown, further illustrating the bright future of EVs.
We’re thrilled at the report of Nissan’s record-setting September, and the next few months will see more exciting news from Nissan with several internal events and auto shows. Stay tuned here on our blog and Facebook page for all the latest news on everything Nissan!
