Fuel Efficient Cars Portland: New Nissan Leaf Includes Many Financial Benefits

The 2011 Nissan Leaf is the first all electric vehicle from a major manufacturer. An article on automobile.com reports that the new cars’ incentives include government tax credits, individual home visits, rebate checks and even Nissan execs making customer service calls.

It just keeps getting better and better – Justin McNaughton, one of the 20,000 consumers who have reserved a Nissan Leaf.

With McNaughton’s deposit of $99 for his LEAF came a $2,500 Tennessee state cash rebate, a $7,500 tax credit from the Federal Government and a $3,000 vehicle charging station from the Energy Department.  He was also one of the lucky customers to visit at length with a senior manager at Nissan, asking questions for over 40 minutes about his impending Leaf purchase.

Consumer demand for the Nissan Leaf is so high that reservations for the first cars available in December are no longer being accepted.  While the Leaf will be manufactured in Japan for now, plans to shift production to Tennessee by 2012 to meet anticipated consumer demand of over half a million vehicles worldwide by 2013.

New Nissan Cars: 2011 Nissan Pathfinder Sports Tough Truck Stuff

The 2011 Nissan Pathfinder… continues to strut its tough-truck stuff, a bold grille, blistered wheel arches, and resolutely upright body lines that sneer at the streamlined curves associated with crossovers. – Igudia.com

As reviewed by igudia.com, the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder has classic SUV styling that’s old-school but features the latest technology. The 2011 Nissan Pathfinder SV offers a truck type body-on-frame composition, evoking images of the off-roading and large hauling classic SUV’s.

For truck traditionalists, this new pathfinder maintains the tough body on frame engineering instead of the lighter with cross-over unibody platforms. This means that the Pathfinder can power through any size job with its hauling and towing abilities.

The Pathfinder also offers a host of features including a Bose audio system with 10 speakers, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth, keyless entry/start system, and heated front seats.

Nissan Dealers Portland: Nissan’s Townpod Concept Shines

According to a recent USA Today article, the highlight of Nissan’s display at the 2010 Paris Auto Show was the Nissan Townpod, a compact van concept car showcased as a “vehicle for entrepreneurs.”

Features include “pucks”- these are rubber balls that can be positioned in troughs in the dash, doors, console and cargo areas.  With a slot designed to accept accessory tools, it is perfect for items such as cupholders, iPod or phone.  The idea is that users, not the car designer, decides how to configure the space for their needs.

“The system is completely open source – we encourage individuals or other organizations to come up with accessories (think apps?) to complement this platform, ” says Nissan’s product chief designer Masato Inoue.

The Townpod includes eight access doors, including two in the roof for extra long items, and rear seats that neatly fold into the backs of the front seats for additional cargo space. This all electric concept car from Nissan is the wave of the future.
